We’re back in school. Again. That means busy nights with soccer practice, cross-country, ballet, cheer and homework. Who has the time to slave over the stove all day? Not you or me that’s for sure! So what could be easier than dinner that’s ready in less than 30 minutes and clean up is one pot? Not much! This one pot puttanesca is that dish.
So what is puttanesca, you ask? Well, it’s not what you think. Strictly speaking, the name means “prostitute’s pasta” and I had always heard that it was because the ladies of the evening were busy doing other things so they didn’t have much time to cook. This is a dish that cooks quickly and smells amazing, the better to lure more customers to your door. While that’s a great story, I’m not sure that it’s true. Upon doing a little research I found that puttanesca was invented in the mid-1950s. So much for my ladies of the evening story.
Add some garlic bread, a big salad and dinner is on the table in no time flat!
